Book a flight via AirAsia and help Filipino children see the world

Travel with a cause? Yes, you can! Traveling is even more valuable when you book a flight via AirAsia.

AirAsia in partnership with World Vision celebrates the season of giving through a joint Christmas initiative called “See the World,” an awareness building and fundraising effort for the benefit of Filipino children. For every AirAsia seats booked or sold in the Philippines from 1 to 31 December 2017, five pesos will be automatically donated to World Vision’s child sponsorship program.

With its dream to raise at least one million pesos donation, “See the World” campaign will be beneficial for many Filipino children being a direct recipient of this program.

During the launch last November 18, AirAsia Regional Chief Operating Officer Pete Chareonwongsak said, “The collaboration between AirAsia and World Vision represents another step forward in our commitment to the philosophy that no corporation can live apart from the community it serves. As a truly Filipino airline, we will always extend a helping hand to the communities we serve.”

“AirAsia as a global brand is honored to partner with an international relief, development and advocacy organization as we both share the same commitment and passion in helping communities especially children see the wonders of the world through sponsorship programs in education.”

Meanwhile, World Vision Philippines National Director Rommel Fuerte said, “As we celebrate the 60th anniversary of World Vision here in the Philippines, we are very thankful to have this milestone partnership with AirAsia Philippines. With this significant initiative, we can ensure that every peso that will be donated to World Vision will help a lot of underprivileged Filipino children attain their dreams.”

“Christmas in the Philippines is very much celebrated and being involved in this exciting project is truly a gift that enables us to reach out and help as many children as we can.”

Aside from fundraising efforts, “See the World” will feature inspiring stories of children from impoverished communities around the country whose lives have changed and caused other children and communities to aspire for better living conditions.

“See the World” was officially launched today at Hotel H2O with World Vision Philippines ambassadors led by Asia’s Romantic Balladeer Christian Bautista, singer and rapper Quest and radio DJ and host Gelli Victor.

World Vision ambassador Christian Bautista said, “Working with World Vision in the Philippines is really a joy for me. Yes, I am able to touch the lives of these children when we reach out to them. But they don’t know how their smiles are able to change me as a person. And with the wonderful ‘See the World’ collaboration of AirAsia and World Vision, each one can have that chance to touch each other's hearts and celebrate Christmas in a different way."

For his part, Quest, also an ambassador for World Vision said, “I don’t feel any burden being a child sponsor. In fact, it makes me feel wonderful being able to help. And through this ‘See the World’ campaign of AirAsia and World Vision in the Philippines, it will be easier for anyone to help.”

AirAsia Philippines will run a web series online and available in AirAsiaPhilippines facebook starting November 20.

Hugot Line Sa Tag-Ulan

10. Yung break-up natin paran ulan…biglaan!

And the winner is…

Keep safe, guys! :)

Live with the King

Live with the King, this summer!

I mean, be the ‘King’ of your own time and rule your own travel adventure. ☺

But hey, are you ready for the hottest season of the year?

You’ve probably done a lot of exercises and healthy diet in the past 3 months. Of course, you would love to see yourself awesome on your Instagram feed with thousands of like and bunch of comments.

When I stumbled upon Nuffnang’s blog, I discovered this newly launched smartphone, Huawei Nexus 6P, that would possibly be my next perfect summer buddy (not body, as in buddy) and travel companion.

While reading the specs, I am surprised how Huawei packaged its newest smartphone as King of Android. Being a blogger, one of the things that I always share to my friends is to have a reliable smartphone.

Since you’re reading this post and I consider you as my friend, I would like to share with you the 5 Reasons Why Huawei Nexus 6P is your Perfect Travel Buddy:

First of all, when choosing a smartphone, you should consider the display and size of it. Is the size big or small enough to fit in your pocket? Does it have a clear screen display?

Well, Nexus 6P has a sharp 5.7" WQHD AMOLED display that gives you a stunning clarity with 518 pixels per inch at the same time with a superior front-facing speaker offers crisp sound.

I don’t need to elaborate this why you should have a powerful camera. Duhh? Selfies, OOTDs, flat lays, etc. A powerful camera is a must!

According to their website, Nexus 6P's 12.3MP lens is the best all-around camera ever used in a Nexus. Where it really shines is in conditions with less than ideal lighting. The 1.55μm pixels capture more light, turning your best time into vivid, beautiful shots. With Google Camera™, you never miss a moment. Google Photos™ makes memories easy to find, so you can relive them in an instant.

I am an android user since the day smartphone was invented and I would love to say that I am contented and happy!

With this new Nexus 6P with pre-installed Google apps, I’m sure you will enjoy this as it`s ready to use right out of the box. Imagine, the best of Google in the palm of your hand? That's Search, Google Maps™, Chrome™, Google Play™, YouTube™, Photos, Gmail™, and more.

Travel adventure will not be complete without a power bank. But with the new Nexus 6P, a long-lasting 3450mAh battery lets you go the distance with added support from a reversible USB Type-C™ for fast charging. Sounds interesting?

Last but not the least is the performance. Nexus 6P has the latest software updates for an ultimate Android experience. Enjoy the freshest, fastest version. Also, Nexus 6P's hardware comes with the latest version of the octa-core Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 810 v2.1 processor making the performance of Nexus 6P faster than ever.

Aside from software, Nexus 6P’s curved metal shell is crafted from aeronautical-grade anodized aluminium. Diamond chamfers encircle Huawei’s iconic hardware design, which is sculpted to accent a low-light-loving, powerful camera.

Moreover, Nexus 6P's wifi combo antenna offers a fast, strong connection, so you can work and play, with no interruptions.

5 Frequently Asked Questions about ‘Pulses’

Have you ever heard the word ‘pulses’?

It’s not the one the doctor is using when checking your heart but it’s something your mouth would definitely love to eat.

Honestly, I never knew what pulses were until one night when I attended an event hosted by no less than Mr. Philip Goldberg, the US Ambassador to the Philippines, I get to know more about these little creatures.

Last April 19, Mr Goldberg presented several dishes and ways on how ‘pulses’ will be beneficial to our body. During the event, Mr Goldberg also highlighted that this year, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations has formally declared that 2016 is the "International Year of Pulses." This is part of the United Nation’s global mission to get us to eat more pulses.

...but wait, what the heck is a pulse?

To answer this question, I gathered the Five FAQs about ‘Pulses’:

1. What are pulses?
In technical terms, they’re the dry, edible seeds of plants in the legume family. In understandable terms, they’re a category of superfoods that includes chickpeas, lentils, dry peas, and bean varieties. They’re also incredibly healthy, affordable, sustainable and tasty.

2. What are some examples of pulses?
According to The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, some of the most widely consumed types of pulses include dried grain legumes like kidney beans, navy, faba beans, chickpeas, dried or split peas, mung beans, cowpeas, black-eyed peas, and several varieties of lentils.

3. Why are pulses so nutritious?
Pulses are packed with nutrients, and are a fantastic source of protein, which is particularly important for human health. Pulses are made up of about 20-25 percent of protein by weight, which is double the protein content of wheat and triple that of rice. When eaten together with cereals, the protein quality in the diet is significantly improved and a complete protein is formed.

Pulses have a low fat content and contain zero cholesterol. The Glycaemic Index (an indicator of the effect on blood sugar) is also low in pulses, and they are a significant source of dietary fibre. Since they do not contain gluten, they are an ideal food for celiac patients. Additionally, pulses are rich in minerals (iron*, magnesium, potassium, phosphorus, zinc) and B-vitamins (thiamine, riboflavin, niacin, B6, and folate) all of which play a vital role in health.

4. Why are they considered superfood?
Pulses are nutritional powerhouses, loaded with protein, fiber, vitamins and minerals. They’ve also been shown to lower the risk of heart diseases and diabetes, lower blood pressure and cholesterol, and help with weight loss. Gluten-free and vegetarian, they contain twice the protein of quinoa.

Black beans contain 1.5 times the amount of iron as flank steak, and chickpeas have three times the folate (as essential B vitamin that helps prevent neutral tube birth defects) as kale, Plus, pulses are high in fiber – linked to weight loss and feeling fuller – and loaded with more antioxidants than blueberries or pomegranate juice. In fact, they’re so nutrient-dense that nutritionists actually consider them both a protein and a vegetable at once.

5. How good do they actually taste?

Pulses can be prepared countless ways and are delicious as well as nutritious, which is why many of the country’s top chefs have begun including them in recipes from smoothies and ice cream to main dishes.

You can check this link for more easy to prepare ‘pulses’ dishes.

Happy Year of the Pulse! :)
